June GLEAM

Tuesday begins Pride month!  We have decorated the church to show our support of our LGBTQ+ members, friends and neighbors.  Save the date of Thursday June 3rd for the Multifaith Pride gathering for Cincy, NKy and L’burg Pride (details below).

We will be participating in the Northern Kentucky Pride festival on Sunday, June 6th from noon to 5 pm.  If you are interested in participating in our vendor booth at the festival, please let me know.  We’ll need help setting up our booth before noon (during worship).  We will have 2 art projects in our booth for festival attendees to participate in.  We need help coordinating those projects – Alex, Pastor Sheri and I have the idea for you to implement.  If you can help, let me know.

To show our support of our LGBTQ+ friends for whom their preferred pronouns are not recognized, gender is non-binary or are questioning their gender identity, we will offer gender inclusive words for the Doxology during the month of June.

The Grace In Which We Stand The Kentucky Women’s Disciples Ministry

The Women’s Ministry Cabinet and I are planning a virtual mini-conference for Kentucky Disciples Women. The gathering will be held via zoom from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, June 19.

The theme for the day is “The Grace in Which We Stand,” with the informing scripture being Romans 5:1-5.

There is no registration form or fee for this mini-conference. All you have to do is click on the zoom link below on the appropriate day and time to use on your internet-connected device of choice. Everyone at the gathering will be on mute except for the speakers and musicians but you will be able to look around, see who is there and type “Hellos” and messages in the chat room.

You will have an opportunity to make an online offering to support future women’s ministries events. Any blessing box offerings may be sent to the regional office at P.O. Box 910503, Lexington, KY 40591. If you need further information, email me at linda@ccinky.netI sure hope to see you there!

FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH LITTLE LIBRARY

The little library is being emptied out as quickly as it is filling up!  That’s such good news that our neighbors are enjoying the resources in the little library.  There will be a tote in the back of the sanctuary on Sundays for you to drop off your donations.  Or, feel free to fill up the little library with what you bring.

Happy birthday to all of our June birthday members!!

POLISH PARTY

Our communion wear and candles have been sitting around collecting dust for 14 months.  Join us on Tuesday, June 8th at 10:00 am at the church to polish all the silver and gold pieces used for worship.  I’ll make coffee and hot water.  Bring a snack if you’d like to share.

COMMUNION PREP

If you would like to help prep the trays for communion each week, please let me or Lori know.  We can set a schedule and train you.  It’s much easier and quicker than filler trays and juice cups.

NEW SOUND / AUDIO EQUIPMENT

If you are interested in having a look at the new equipment, Alex Gallenstein is willing to give you a tour.  If you’re interested in learning how to run the new equipment and join a team of volunteers to serve in a rotation, Alex is willing to train you.  Contact Alex if you’d like to learn more.
