Newsletter for Feb. 12th, 2021

Note from the Pastor

I’m settled into my new apartment in Covington. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Even with all the snow we’ve had this week, I could still get to the church because I’m so close now.

Leadership Council – minutes from January 31, 2021 meeting

Notes taken by Sheri Jackson – Agenda items from Tracy Siegman

Council members in attendance: Richard, Scott, Alex, Tracy, Sterling, Sheila, Ann, Sheri

1) Decide on meeting facilitator and note taker. You may decide to have a facilitator/leader and note taker for a whole year or take turns over the year.

Decision: Scott and Sterling facilitator only. Others agree to rotate being both. Tracy will produce the list for the first 6 months.

2) Devotion: bring an image of what you think of when you think “church”. It does not have to be a picture of our church or a church.

Responses: Stained glass windows, diverse group of people gathered around a table breaking bread, flat Jesus, views from the balcony, prayers/cross, memories/people that have shaped our life, doing ministry out in the community

3) Mission statement/building sign – Welcome wholly, love authentically, share God’s grace abundantly.

Discussion: Replace open minds, big hearts? Permanent sign? Message clear/strong/cluttered for Social media?

Decision: Give back to Thriving Congregation Team. Ask Alex to join in conversation.

4) AV / Tech proposal from Alex from American Sound

Project #1 – Sound

Project #2 – Camera

Project #3 – In person visuals (Flat Screens)

Decision: The council recommended taking projects #1 and #2 to the trustees for funding but with additional info: 1) bids for less expensive equipment (speakers and camera) and 2) secure second bid from competitor) Alex will call Steve Rehfuss for name of other sound company

5) Set next meeting date –

Decision: Meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 7:00 pm. Next meeting date 2/21/2021

Potential February business items:
