Send a text to someone whom you normally greet on Sunday mornings. Send a “thinking of you” message. Consider a waving hand emoji.

The Light of Christ
It is our practice to light the candles on the Communion Table during the Prelude to remind us of the Presence of Christ in our worship. Please take a moment to light a candle to symbolize Christ’s Presence in your worship space.

A list of our prayer concerns list was sent out on Friday afternoon with the newsletter. Please refer to that list for friends in need of prayer. If you did not receive that list, please email the office: firstonfifthcc@gmail.com to be put on the list.
There will be an online prayer meeting at noon on Sunday. Please join this time of prayer by logging into the Zoom meeting at this link. In memory of those we have lost recently, our time of prayer will be a time to remember those we have lost, share stories about their life and faith, and pray for those who grieve.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the

Scripture: John 20: 19 – 29
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
Jesus Appears to Thomas
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Invitation to Communion: All Are Welcome by Pastor Sheri Jackson
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) practices an open table at which all believers are welcome. You are welcome to partake of communion with us while the Communion Hymn plays below. If you have a piece of bread and a cup of grape juice, you may use those elements for communion. If you do not have those items, you are welcome to use what you have in your home to put on a plate and fill a cup that will represent for you Christ’s body and blood.
Words of Institution
The Bible tells us the story about the last time Jesus gathered around a table with His friends. He took a loaf of bread; after giving thanks, He blessed it, broke it and gave it to His Disciples saying, “Take and eat. This is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, He took a cup after supper. He shared it with His Disciples saying, “This is the cup of the New Covenant filled for the forgiveness of sin. Drink it in remembrance of me.” For as often as we eat this bread and drink from this cup, we remember the Lord’s death until He comes again.

The Light of Christ
As the Postlude plays, consider what you want to do with the Light of Christ burning while you worshiped. You may leave the candle burning as a reminder that Christ remains with you in your home. Or, you may extinguish the candle and remember that the Light lives on in your heart.
