Can you keep a secret?
We’ve all seen the commercials and special news stories about Soldiers coming home from deployments and surprising their children, spouses, and families. That wonderful experience would not be possible if someone let the news of the arrival slip, right? But it’s such wonderful news! Why keep it a secret? Because there is a bigger purpose; a fantastic event that has been planned. I’ve been involved with such events, and let me tell you, it’s hard not to let on that something’s about to happen.
In Mark chapter nine, Jesus has a special event planned for Peter, James and John up on the mountain. A surprise meeting with Elijah and Moses! Here they witness Jesus’ transfiguration. They were terrified and dumbfound, but what an amazing thing to be a part of. Everyone needs to hear about this, right? Well, Jesus had other plans.
Come join us at 10:45 am Sunday as we take a closer look at Christ’s transfiguration. Christ has something to say to YOU this week, so come and Listen to Him. You may be surprised with what he has to say!
New Revised Standard Version
2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,3 and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them.
4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, who were talking with Jesus.5 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6 He did not know what to say, for they were terrified.
7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” 8 Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more, but only Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one about what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
